Fish of Brazil

Besides Brazilian beef, one of other features of Brazilian dishes is its wide range of freshwater fish. For instance, Pirarucu, inhibiting in Rivers such as Amazon and famous as one of the largest freshwater fish (it can be 2m long and weighs 200kg). Mainly grilled or sautéed, the taste is quite rich in umami and no “fishy” aftertaste at all: really delicious.


If you want to see diverse aquatic fishes in Brazil, you MUST go to City Market of Sao Paulo (Mercado Municipal de São Paulo) where you can find Pintado (Looks like catfish), Piranha and many other varieties, and hopefully you get excited. How about marine fish? For sure you can buy almost all the seafood used in Sush restaurant at quite high quality. Oyster is also aqua-cultivated in Brazil (originally introduced from Japan) and I am quite confident that you will be fully satisfied with its lovely taste. You will get never bored with culinary culture of Brazil.
